Remanufacturing: A Journey from American to International Standard

Remanufacturing is a global industry with direct impacts on job creation, landfill diversion, and resource recovery. While remanufacturing and reverse logistics continue to gain popularity in practice, the efforts to standardize processes across industries are limited.  Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) took the first step in the standardization effort with an ANSI standard for remanufacturing that was published in 2017. The published ANSI standard has since then been well received across industries and an effort to globalize the standards effort is underway. This webinar will start with a discussion of the ANSI standard that was completed, what worked, lessons learned and then dive into how RIC is working to develop a global standard for remanufacturing, including challenges and opportunities. All stakeholders (customers, suppliers, OEMs, distributors, researchers, etc.) in the remanufacturing industry will benefit from this webinar to understand what is involved and how they can partner in standards development in this fast-growing global industry.

The American Reman Standard

The remanufacturing standard developed by RIC, in collaboration with a diverse consensus body, defines and provides a benchmark for the process of remanufacturing, and establishes specifications that characterize the remanufacturing process and differentiate remanufacturing from other practices.

The specifications in this standard will promote continual improvement in the remanufacturing process and help ensure that the products provided to customers by the remanufacturing industry are dependable and of a consistently high quality.
